Under heavy pressure during the September 16th Board of Directors Meeting, which was attended by many disgruntled homeowners who were upset by the terrible condition of the Greenbelt, the Board finally appointed a Landscaping Committee. Article 9.4 of the the 2004 Amended and Restated Bylaws states: "The Board shall appoint a Landscaping Committee annually to make recommendations to the Board concerning landscaping maintained by the Association". The Board had inexcusably failed to honor this mandate for five years!
The Landscape Committee was assigned the task of seeking 3 or more bids from competing landscape maintenance companies in the search for a replacement of U. S. Lawns. Five of the Committee members (Carol Brinkley, Mary Ann Tanner, Marilyn Ellis, Tom Cook, and Keith Dickerson) worked diligently on this project. Spearheaded by Carol Brinkley, the committee contacted various companies and met with their representatives on the Greenbelt for walking inspections of the common area. They held numerous committee meetings at Mary Ann's home. They studied other properties maintained by the companies, checked their references, and obtained bids. As you will see from the Minutes of the October 21st Board of Directors meeting that are published below, the committee members unanimously recommended that Benchmark Landscape Companies be hired. The Board agreed, and it terminated the contract with U. S. Lawns and contracted with Benchmark Landscape effective November 23, 2009.
